Gallup Daily: Tracking Consumer Confidence

Based on polling conducted Feb. 10-12, 2008

PRINCETON, NJ -- One in three Americans rate current economic conditions as "poor," while 8 in 10 say conditions are "getting worse." Despite the sharp drop in interest rates during recent weeks, consumers continue to hold a grim view of the nation's economic prospects. -- Dennis Jacobe

Methodology: The results reported here are based on combined data from 1,532 interviews conducted Feb. 10-12, 2008. For results based on this sample, the maximum margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points. In addition to sampling error, question wording and practical difficulties in conducting surveys can introduce error or bias into the findings of public opinion polls.
