In possibly the most challenging project in Gallup's history, 10,000 people in nine predominantly Muslim countries were interviewed. In December 2001 and January 2002, researchers conducted hour-long, in-person interviews in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan and Morocco. Details on how the Gallup Poll of the Islamic World was conducted are also available.
Accurate information about how Muslims abroad view the West has previously not been available. The study, which Gallup designed and funded, provides data that are still both critical and timely.
Gallup's mission is to report the opinions of residents of predominantly Islamic countries on an ongoing basis. The 2002 Gallup Poll of the Islamic World will provide benchmark findings that enable leaders to gauge how diplomatic policies and cultural influences are affecting their views about the West.
