Gallup's latest World Poll report shows that the majority of the world is confident in their local police and feels secure. Gallup sees strong relationships between these two factors and how they relate to a country's economic and social development.

69% of people worldwide say they have confidence in their local police and 68% feel safe walking alone at night where they live and 5% say they were assaulted or mugged.
In only three countries were residents considerably more likely than Venezuelans 42% to say they had been the victims of theft in the past year

More Venezuelans 42%reported having had property or money stolen in the past year -- topping the previous high of 38% set in 2016.

- Do you feel safe walking alone at night in the city or area where you live?
- Within the last 12 months, have you had money or property stolen from you or another household member?
- Within the past 12 months, have you been assaulted or mugged?
