PRINCETON, NJ -- The jackpot for one of America's multi-state lotteries, "The Big Game," reached the $220 million mark Thursday, the second-largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history. The game is played in seven states: Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia.
Fifty-seven percent of the public claim to have played the lottery in the last year. This is the most widespread form of gambling, far ahead of the 31% who say they have gambled at casinos in the last year.
