PRINCETON, NJ -- Hillary Clinton maintains a 48% to 44% advantage over Barack Obama among Democrats nationally in Gallup Poll Daily election tracking for March 3-5.
Wednesday night interviewing suggests that the significant upswing in Democrats' support for Clinton, evident in the days leading up to Tuesday's primaries, has not continued, even after the extensive news coverage Wednesday of her wins in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island. The race has stabilized for the moment as the two candidates look ahead at the potential for long weeks of campaigning leading to the next big state primary in Pennsylvania, almost seven weeks away. -- Frank Newport
Methodology: Gallup is interviewing no fewer than 1,000 U.S. adults nationwide each day during 2008. The results reported here are based on combined data from March 3-5, 2008, including interviews with 1,270 Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters. For results based on these samples, the maximum margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points. In addition to sampling error, question wording and practical difficulties in conducting surveys can introduce error or bias into the findings of public opinion polls.
