WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The protests on Tuesday against U.S. President Donald Trump during his first state visit to the United Kingdom should not surprise anyone, given Britons' low approval ratings of U.S. leadership during his last visit in 2018. At that time, barely more than one in four Britons (26%) approved of the job performance of U.S. leadership.
While not the lowest approval rating for U.S. leadership in Gallup's record in the United Kingdom, this 26% is notably even lower than the near-record-low 31% approval worldwide.
